Now - I don't want this to be a downbeat post at all, but I thought it was worth explaining why some of our toys are slightly more expensive than they were last year and some of them aren't. Unfortunately prices will be on the rise soon across the toy industry (if not already) because of the impact of last year's currency movements.
Some of my trusted suppliers have had to put up their prices after about 4 or 5 years of no increases and I don't blame them at all - it had to happen. Of course, large toy retailers will have "hedged" and bought larger quantities than normal to keep prices as low as possible for as long as possible. We have tried to do this in our own small way. Getting orders as big as we could afford in on key lines has helped us stay competitive on several brands but reordering has had to start already.
By as a way of an example, if you went to the "Ride Ons" category you would see that some of the Wheelybugs are more expensive than others (size excepted). This is because some of them have been ordered or reordered after the price increase. We could have raised prices across the board of course, but it doesn't feel right to further squeeze our customers' already tightening purse strings by doing that, so we haven't. It makes it look messy for a while but so be it.
My advice - if you have a big purchase for the child's birthday coming up, don't put it off. If you see a price you are happy with, grab it. Shop around! And don't forget to take advantage of our 25% off code whilst it lasts - we are not going to be the type of company that continually sends out offers month after month. I don't know about you but I lose trust in the value of full priced products with certain brands who send me a voucher every couple of weeks. So this is a genuine offer that won't be repeated for a long time.
The code is "MOVE25" by the way!
